Madeleine van Mansfeld, biologist, landscape ecologist and process manager transition management. Professional career covers research, teaching and consultancy in landscape ecology and natural resources management throughout the world. Presently work as senior researcher land use planning and process management at the Environmental Sciences group of Alterra at Wageningen UR. The action oriented research deals with land use change through participatory regional planning and facilitation of transdisciplinary processes for solutions on complex issues on water, agriculture, food and ecosystems, which ask for an integrative, interactive approach. The work resulted in publications, feasibility studies and implementation planning on ecology/economy, ecology/infrastructure and metropolitan agriculture for sustainable development. Such as EIA’s; Landscape planning; Riverine & coastal Naturedevelopment; Projectcoordination of Water and Climate research in new approaches for adaptive water management; Spatial planning of the underground; Action research & evaluations on (inter)national regional planning; Evaluation of Dutch Nature-balances; Multicriteria-analysis for Nature targets and Development of participatory tools and generic methodology to improve decision making. This expertise culminates in process management of Masterplanning Metropolitan Agriculture (MA) with Agroparks and Rural Transformation as integrated approach of new intelligent food-value chains. I consider this MA, the large scale intensive clustered agriculture, as one of the innovative solutions for sustainable development on those spots of the world where there is dire need for better ways of producing and preparing food.
